Inside Out
This pilot artists' residency programme provided a period of research and testing in order for Storey Gallery to try out ways of operating during the time in which the building would be closed for refurbishment. The project was planned to allow the Gallery to develop strategies for working offsite, for exploring links with potential partners, and for working collaboratively. It also supported artists to extend their practice, and developed new audiences.
The theme of the pilot residency programme was centred on the building and its planned development. Four artists were commissioned to produce new works to creatively engage audiences with the changing circumstances of the Storey Gallery caused by the planned redevelopment of the Storey Institute building.
These artists were Carl von Weiler, Jane Chavez-Dawson, John Gilbert, and Jason Minsky.
Carl produced DooDah in the gallery, and the others worked beyond it.
