Handmade & Vintage Festive Market

On Saturday 3rd December, for one day only, Storey Gallery is presenting a Handmade and Vintage Festive Market. The beautiful Victorian gallery, known for its challenging programme of contemporary visual art and design, will shed its usual thought-provoking persona in favour of glittery lights and lots of festive trees.

After the success of last year’s event we are doubling in size. More than 40 stalls will fill the first floor gallery spaces, providing a unique festive shopping experience in one of the most splendid rooms in Lancaster. As Queen Victoria and Prince Albert look on, and impromptu performances entertain you, you’ll have the opportunity to buy something truly unique.

Artists, designers, and makers from across the North West will be selling original artworks, and specially created Christmas treats. Paintings, prints, handmade jewellery, textiles and contemporary ceramics will be on offer alongside vintage gowns, bags and hats.

Amongst the handmade and vintage goodies there will also be several stalls offering something very different. Poets Sarah Hymas and Elizabeth Burns are running a stall called ‘Tailor-made Poems for Stuck Santas’. The pair will be offering to write bespoke poems, on any subject or any person. After a brief consultation they will write something special just for you. An ideal gift for someone who has everything, or when ‘smellies’ simply won’t cut it!

As part of the Festive Market, Storey Gallery will be working with a few stall holders to offer Own Art, a scheme providing interest free loans from £100 - £1000 to purchase original artwork and crafts. If shoppers spot something special they can set up the loan and take the piece away on the day.

So if you like shopping all in one go, or find the high street just a little dull, come along, support the independent traders and grab something special.

There are also 3 other Festive Markets and Fairs taking place in Lancaster on 3 December.
